Overview
Deloitte is one of the top, industry-leading global consulting firms. They engaged our team to create a modern and scalable solution to revolutionize their Risk Intelligence services. I spearheaded the design of a digital tool with AI integration that creates a more efficient workflow for Deloitte analysts and their clients.
How it all started
We conducted extensive surveys to gain insights into user preferences, pain points, and shopping habits. These surveys helped us identify the features users valued most, such as secure payment options, intuitive navigation, and personalized recommendations.
Competitive analysis
Staying up-to-date with market trends, including emerging technologies and consumer behavior, was crucial. This allowed us to align our app with the evolving needs and expectations of our target audience.
How to simplify it
Designing an effective information architecture (IA) for a mobile shopping app is critical to ensure that users can easily find and access the products and services they need. Here's a high-level breakdown of the IA for the shopping app project
Whole Page Experience
GenAI capabilities are integrated into a dedicated page or section within the Asset.
Pros:
Focused environment that is immersive and adaptable.
Allows for in-depth analysis, responses, and capabilities within a single place.
Can use a full range of GenAI possibilities.
Cons:
Users won't be able to switch back and forth between the GenAI section and a different part of the application, potentially disrupting their workflows.
Would probably require significant development efforts to create this experience.
Smaller Embedded Experience
GenAI capabilities are embedded on a feature or page level, providing contextual assistance and insights when needed.
Pros:
Offers contextual support, helping users at critical points in their workflows to make informed decisions.
Can integrate GenAI seamlessly into the user's existing interaction with the application.
Allows for a more modular and flexible integration of capabilities.
Cons:
Users might not discover or utilize the tool if they are not aware of its existence as part of a specific feature (Discoverability)
May be limited to more granular and specific uses, rather than an all-encompassing tool (Where do we choose to integrate it?)
Persistant Chatbot
GenAI capabilities are integrated into a chatbot that is accessible at every (or almost every) part of the application.
Pros:
Provides on-demand assistance and answers to questions within the application.
Can be a more user-friendly way to receive insights and answers to complicated ideas.
Can be continuously improved based on user interactions.
Potentially less development work than other integration ideas.
Cons:
Chatbot responses will have to be carefully curated and maintained to ensure accuracy.
May be considered annoying or less trustworthy that other types of integrations and knowledge delivery.
What I learned
The amount of ambiguity in this project was immense, but I learned how to deconstruct the problem space into smaller, more manageable pieces. We were designing for a space where there were almost no competitors, no established practices–we had to research as much as we could in order to understand how to use AI for risk sensing in the risk advisory space. I also gained a huge amount of knowledge on the technical side of AI’s capabilities. The amount of ambiguity in this project was immense, but I learned how to deconstruct the problem space into smaller, more manageable pieces.
